So I haven't exactly been keeping track of anything I've been eating in the past couple of days: I've been overly irritated with circumstances and myself for having to a.) deal with the heat, which is amazing, b.) deal with my hip injury, which is going to make exercise just that much more difficult, and c.) deal with my thesis proposal.
But after last night, in which I had ice cream for dinner, I thought that really, I'm only making things more difficult for myself -- one of the ways to improve hip bursitis is via weight loss - and putting on weight isn't going to make me any cooler during the next month and a half of oppressive summer heat. So reluctantly, let me try this again.
I think I need to stop buying frozen fruit unless I have an actual recipe planned for it. I tend to eat it to excess every time. I did that with cheese, and I've mainly stopped eating it to excess like I did. I'm definitely one of those people who tends to eat when stressed or bored, and this summer I've definitely experienced a combination of both feelings, especially in regards to my thesis proposal.
I found out the schedule for "open pool hours" for the pool at the MCV gym (Mon - Friday, 4 - 7:30 pm, Sat/ Sunday, 3 - 6:30 pm), and I think I need to somehow figure out how to get a good vigorous workout from a combination of swimming and using an eliptical machine. I don't know how much running will be an option for a couple of weeks.
In other health news, I made my appointment for the VCU Sports Medicine Clinic with a Dr. Loughran, for the first available date: Tuesday, August 9th. I also made my first dental appointment in a very long time for another first available date: Tuesday, August 30th. Here's to trying to be responsible.

I thought I would write to someone about my injury and for training advice. I believe I spoke with you on this past Saturday after the run -- I had to take the Sag Wagon back after 7.5 miles, and my hip would barely support any weight. I think I might have hip bursitis.
I made the earliest appointment I could get with the VCU Sports Medicine Clinic, with Dr. Loughran, but my appointment isn't until August 9th. Obviously, I'd like to get some exercise (if not running) between now and then, but I'd also like to avoid aggravating my injury further. I want to run the marathon in November, but I don't want to ruin the rest of my running career to do it.
If it makes sense to forward this e-mail to Coach Don (head coach, he does this for a full-time job and has run something like 2 dozen marathons), please do.
Thanks for any time and advice,
Amy
